Birmingham Karate instructor Hall of Fame Awards 2011 The 2011 Combat Hall of Fame Awards ceremony, held on the 20th November 2011 at the Aston Villa conference suite in Birmingham, was exceptional. A special recognition for Kyoshi John Richards and the Zen-Shin Karate Association, 28 representatives from his dojos attended the Combat Hall of Fame Awards ceremony hosted by Paul Clifton, the editor of "Combat Magazine". Kyoshi John Richards was awarded for his 'Outstanding Commitment and Devotion' to the development of Martial Arts in the United Kingdom and the World.

WKA KARATE ENGLAND SQUAD 2011 WKA ENGLAND KARATE SQUAD 2011 A talented team of Karate Students from the Zen-Shin Black Belt Academy based in the Midlands have taken the world by storm. They attended the World Karate Championships in Karlsruhe, Germany. The squad was up against 36 nations (including Canada, USA, Iran, China, Nigeria and Germany to name a few). There were hundreds of competitors – Germany had a huge squad. WKA Karate Squad Sponsored Swim On Friday 3rd June Lauren and James completed their sponsored swim to raise money for the WKA squad at Oak Part Leisure Centre, Walsall Wood. They managed to complete 102 lengths in total with James doing 42 lengths- just over 1000 metres and lauren doing 60 lengths- 1500 metres. Life guards at the pool signed the sponsor form and issued both with certificates for these distances!Both were shattered afterwards completing the event in just under an hour but were pleased to have raised a total of
