We provide a variety of safeguarding children services including a range and combination of quality tailor made assessments and intervention arrangements to meet the needs of children and families.

We undertake comprehensive family assessment/intervention programmes with a range of parents to ascertain their ability to care safely for a child. Services we offer are targeted to address the family’s needs in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families. Within this framework we collect and analyse information to support our professional judgement and make appropriate recommendations.

Dudley Lodge is a UK registered non-profit making charity and company limited by guarantee. Dudley Lodge was established in 1895 and is one of the leading Family Assessment Centre’s in England and Wales.

Dudley Lodge operates from two centres; Dudley Lodge Family Assessment Centre in Coventry and Bonner House Family Assessment Centre in Birmingham. Both centres are regulated by Ofsted and both been judged as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.

Dudley Lodge is a long standing organisation which is well respected with the local authorities, court arena, solicitor’s and guardians near home and further afield. We promote a culture which encourages people to strive for excellence.

Our approach to family assessment always remains child centred. Our staff are constantly mindful of the outcomes of their behaviour which always reflects what is best for the child.

Following discharge from hospital, we are in a position to offer a ‘Place of Safety’ (at both Centres) to prevent a mother and their new born baby being separated whilst waiting for a court hearing to determine the baby’s immediate future.

Rather that a baby going into foster care we are able to accommodate mother and baby together for a maximum period of ten days. This service prevents the emotional distress that separation creates, facilitates the bonding process which fosters a sense of security for the baby and promotes healthy attachment. At the same time we are in a position to undertake a viability assessment to recommend whether or not there should be further assessment.

There is no charge for this invaluable service.

About Us Residential Assessments
The Centre is registered by Ofsted, under the Care Standards Act 2000, to accommodate and assess a maximum ten families, on a residential basis, at any one time. However, in order to provide intensive assessments, we now operate with 8 families in residence.

Following a recent unannounced inspection (3rd, 5th & 6th December 2007) by Ofsted, Dudley Lodge is judged and rated overall by this inspectorate to provide an 'Outstanding' service.

Community Based Assessments
In addition to our residential team we have a small team dedicated to provide community based assessments within the family home.

Dudley Lodge is able to provide a wide variety and combination of various assessment arrangements in order to meet the needs of children, young people and their families and provide detailed information for decision-making purposes.
